The Re-Use Experiment

So I try to update the kids activity bags that are kept at the church. The bags are pretty nice for the kids to have some colors and paper and a book or small toy to keep them busy during the Sunday morning church service. Anyways, the coloring books get a little raggedy after a bit, but there are still some pages left that are good, so I thought if I tore out the good pages, I could make them into new coloring books.

So I used my handy paper cutter to trim up the pages a little.
Then I ran them through my heavy duty sewing machine-careful...OH BOY! That is pretty slick!!!

Let's see if the kiddos like these "new" coloring books!

Isn't that cool! Look at how easy that was! Man, just think of all the cool things I could sew together!!!

Princess Baby Quilt

The baby girl quilt is done! Ready for a quick wash and dry...This panel is by Studioe  fabrics, and has some other prints that coordinate, but since I got it at fabriganza, I didn't see any matching prints.

I need to get busy on boy quilts now, Missy is having a boy-Wyatt will be a big brother!
And I don't know if I can commit to much more than that one, but there are a couple more boys on the way too! YIKES, you kids need to watch TV or something!!
There all crinkled and good! On to some car fabric!

Next!

So we have another baby on the way, our friend, The Scentsy Lady, Lindsey, is due in something like 20 some days. She might be the only one having a girl! I believe I better get busy!
I got this cute panel in LeClaire, Iowa. Expressions in Thread had that great sale I blogged about here.
So I cut off the little motifs and made them into little corner blocks. I think this is all I'm going to do because the panel is so cute.
I'm going o back it with the lavender bubble print and probably end up binding it in lavender solid. Hope the Momma likes lavender! It won't really matter though-everyone loves to get a quilt no matter what color it is!!

Family Reunion 2012

I don't know what was the matter with me. I hardly took any pictures at all! What a goof!
Anyways, the short drive over to LeGrand Iowa was good, and the small town has a really nice community center/Library...yes I love me a library!
And a really nice playgound too!
It's an easy place to find too. Small towns have that advantage you know....you can drive around town and you're sure to locate the place. It might take you 10 or 15 minutes at the most.
My older sister and our cousin Paul, who drove up from Florida with his darling wife. Do you think I would click a photo of the two of them? Duh!!!!!
DD goofing off with Gramma. You can see in the background that the building is log cabin-like and has very nice seating and tables, along with a full kitchen and it is also air conditioned. A very nice place for a get
together. In the past the family reunion had taken place at the homes of family members, which is nice, but boy I bet they are all relieved when it was decided to rent a place instead! As they say in newsletters around the world..."Fun was had by all."

Woven, Non-Gender Specific, Baby Quilt

So I told you about this quilt that Peg at common threads demonstrated last week. Here we go now! I stuck my flannel to the counter in the kitchen and then sprayed my temporary adhesive on the batting and stuck it together.
Then I stuck down one end of all the white strips I had already cut. Then I started weaving the print strips in and out. When I had them the way I wanted them I sprayed and stuck down just the edges of the whole thing so it would stay together while I sewed.
Love for the walking foot!
Look at this-not one wrinkle in the back! AMAZING!!!
I'm glad I didn't stick the whole strip down because I had to snug them up as I sewed.
There all sewn in  both directions!
And there's the binding, all done too!
Looks so nice!
And here it is all washed and ready to go to the unidentified gender baby!
I just need to snip off some of those threads-I like the raggedy kind of edges, and it feels so soft and nice! That's some really nice flannel I got at Common Threads.
