Meanwhile DD's friend Lieshia is getting married soon, like in 20ish days or so. She asked if I'd make her a garter, so I said I'd give it a try. I don't believe I've ever made one before.
I actually made 2 of them. Her colors are black with Pink, so I tried it a couple of different ways.I guess these days the bride keeps one and the groom tosses the other for the single men-like the bride tosses her bouquet. Whatever.
Hang on I gotta google this..
Well Google says this....From outer inner dot com
A garter is an old-fashioned piece of lingerie which is a band that is worn around the thigh to hold up your stockings. The hold-ups that we take for granted today are actually a relatively new invention that came about in the 40s or 50s. Before this time stockings didn’t have elastic, so they had to be held in place with a garter around the leg.
So Why Wear One At Your Wedding?
You may not even be wearing stockings or tights under your wedding dress, but the garter is a nice little tradition that you can have some fun with.In the past male wedding attendees had to check that their friend, the groom, had got his bride into bed…creepy I know, but an easy way to do this was for the groom to give them an item of the bride’s underwear which is clearly intimate.
Since garters are small, they became favored as items that the groom would give to his friends.
OK Well Lieshia has this one covered!!

It has a whole bunch of attachments, and I tried darn near all of them.

Music, these ladies were playing for the Iowa City Englert theater booth.
The kids area had tons of activities, color stuff, paint stuff, cut and paste stuff, One of my favorite things is the randomly placed pianos outdoors on the ped mall,in past years they leave them out all summer, I only saw this one this year.
There were demonstrations-you might be able to tell in this bad picture, there's a group of girls demonstrating Irish step dancing. And this guy was demonstrating blowing glass beads.
Paintings and photographs, and
Didgeridoos!
This guy had these big pieces that were rustic looking barns, about 10" tall and about 3 feet long but only about 5 inches deep to hang on the wall.. They were probably the coolest thing there...including a very cool price!
There are bands and musical entertainment all day long, and food vendors!
The cornroc guys are here and the Johnsonville brat folks with the biggest grill,
Caribbean food, Chinese food, pizza, Greek food, popcorn, funnel cakes, and yogurt!
