Chili Cook Off & Soup Supper

Well I gotta say I'm glad that's done. I've been busy getting my church's Soup Supper & Chili cook off organized. It went off really well!! YAY!!  Here's our pal Val & DD enjoying the chili samples.

I was so thrilled! We had 10 different chilies entered and this was the 1st year we tried it! The enthusiasm was awesome! Here's Heavy Kevie-his chili was excellent with lots of add on goodies.

Here's Millie. SHe made white chili aka chicken chili. I told her it should be Millie vanillie Chili!!LOL

And this young man with the kiss the cook apron was set to win the whole shebang but was overtaken at the last moment. Adam and his Chili wanna be will be a wanna be next year I'm sure!

Look at the back-see there's Bill with his signs pushing for his favorite chili wanna be! Poor Jill in the foreground was about as tired as can be after a long day of traveling. I'm so glad she could make it!
A very fun time was had by all. And a pretty good fundraiser for the church!

Plaza Jalisco

We went out for supper Friday. We tried a place new to us. Plaza Jalisco. It was DELICIOUS!! A very nice restaurant, very clean & tidy and friendly. 

I had the Flautas and Hubs had a combo platter.

I was at Lowe's the other day-ha, the other day...more like a couple of weeks ago, and saw these cute little tool kits for 1.48!! Yup under $2 and look cool spring loaded pliers. Perfect for all those darn zippers I seem to have to repair. And look 4 different kinds of tweezers!! My serger is excited!!!

Poor Christina.....

You know, it had to happen. Hubs and I were eating supper, listening to the start of the Super Bowl and I looked at him and he looked at me and said, "did she just f up the National Anthem?" Why yes, as a matter of fact, she did. WoW!! Poor thing. I imagine they would have done better to have Lea Michelle sing the National Anthem, she was good with America the Beautiful, which quite a few folks think is the National Anthem anyways.

Deep Snow Part 2-Morning After

Deep Snow!

For the 1st time ever I couldn't get to work because of snow.

I hand shoveled in front of the garage door to pull the car out-my side of the driveway only!!LOL...that drift was about 3'tall!!

I could get out of the driveway, but the snowplows were called off the roads so the county road in front of the house was DEEP!

So instead of being cozy at home in bed, I was baby sitting a temperamental furnace. Apparently I had the perfect storm of wind-to blow out the furnace, snow-to come down the flue-or chimney-or something, and melting snow- to keep the pilot from lighting. After watching the temp inside the house drop to about 65 degrees, I was finally successful at getting the heat going again. Phew!!!! It was pretty chilly!

Enough With the Snow Already!!!

So I guess I don't have to remind anyone that it's still winter in Iowa, huh!
